Support and Guidance
WHAT WE OFFER
Pessary Fitting
Pessaries are used in the management of pelvic organ prolapse. Some women wear them all the time and some women just need a little extra support when doing sport, imagine it like using a sports bra. Pessaries come in lots of different shapes and sizes as do vaginas and are there to help give relief from pelvic organ prolapse symptoms.
Pessaries are another management tool along with strengthening and conditioning of the pelvic floor muscles. A good pelvic floor muscle function is still very important as your pessary can fall down/out.
What happens during an appointment?
- A detailed history will be taken
Discuss symptoms and current management. - Discuss indications and contraindications of pessary use.
- An internal examination to assess pelvic floor strength,
- Measurement of the prolapse
- Discuss which pessary would be suitable and explanation of inserting and removing.
- You'll then be asked to get up and have a walk around the room, go outside and walk down the road, sometimes run if the pessary is for sporting
- If the pessary is in a good position and comfortable, you'll be shown how to self-manage – how to insert and remove.
- If the pessary is not sitting in a satisfactory position then we will trial a different size and in some cases a different type.
I do recommend coming back to clinic 2 weeks later for a follow up to discuss how things are doing, check the pessary and answer any questions you have.
Follow up appointments are usually booked at 3, 6 and 12 months if self managing, if unable to self manage then appts with be every 3 months or sooner if needed.
What do I need to bring to the appt
Where comfortable clothing, and wear trainers if you require a pessary for sports.
Unfortunately I'm unable to see patients if they are menstruating at the time of the appointment.
If you've already wear a pessary and need a review it's a 30 minute appt required.

Vitamin B12 Injections
Do You Get Enough Vitamin B12?
Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that plays a vital role in maintaining good health. It supports the production of red blood cells, contributes to normal nervous system function, and is required for DNA synthesis.
As the body cannot produce vitamin B12 naturally, it must be obtained through animal-based foods or supplementation. Regular replenishment is important, as the body does not store significant amounts of vitamin B12 for long periods.
Potential Benefits of Vitamin B12
- Supports energy production
- Helps reduce tiredness and fatigue
- Supports normal nervous system function
- Contributes to healthy red blood cell formation
- Supports cognitive function and concentration
Vitamin D Injections
Vitamin D is essential for many functions throughout the body. While oral supplements may take weeks or months to significantly increase vitamin D levels, intramuscular injections deliver vitamin D directly into the muscle, bypassing the digestive system and allowing for efficient absorption.
Potential Benefits of Vitamin D
- Helps maintain healthy bones and teeth
- Supports muscle function
- Aids calcium and phosphate absorption
- Supports normal immune function
- Helps maintain bone density
- May help reduce inflammation
- Supports cardiovascular health
- Supports normal brain function
- Plays a role in cell growth and repair
Biotin (Vitamin B7) Injections
Biotin is important for maintaining healthy hair, skin and nails. It also plays a role in supporting the nervous system and helping the body process nutrients effectively.
Natural food sources of biotin include eggs, fish, liver, avocados and mushrooms.
Signs of Biotin Deficiency May Include:
- Dry or brittle hair
- Weak or brittle nails
- Dry, irritated skin
Potential Benefits of Biotin
- Supports healthy hair growth
- Promotes healthy skin
- Helps maintain strong nails
- Supports normal metabolism
- Contributes to nervous system health
Biotin injections offer an alternative to oral supplements, providing rapid delivery and absorption.
Vitamin C Injections
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and an essential nutrient involved in numerous bodily processes, including immune function, collagen production and tissue repair.
Potential Benefits of Vitamin C
- Supports the immune system
- Contributes to healthy skin through collagen formation
- Helps protect cells from oxidative stress
- Supports wound healing
- May help reduce feelings of fatigue
- Supports overall physical and mental wellbeing
